Nicotine doesn't stain.. in fact its colourless. its the tar that gives the brown stain

A panda was the first person to beat Chuck Norris in a knife fight.

Mice don't actually like cheese all that much.

now you know... don't abuse this new power which you have been given, its a gift, share it with your friends, let them see that you know things they don't, unless they read this before you did. then they knew before you did... bummer

Life, to me is a social experiment.

Bending peoples will to benefit my twisted desires, seeing if people act how I expect them to act or watching people go about their daily business the way that they do, it never ceases to amuse me.

People tend to act funnily if they know they are being watched, so if you are like me and like to watch people live their life you have to be sneaky or to not let people know you are watching them exist. The conversations you overhear and the subtle glimpses of people’s lives you get are quite extraordinary. People want to come across as reasonably normal all the time but when you’ve seen what I’ve seen and heard what I’ve heard you know that even the most normal seeming person is indeed a little bit messed up in the ol’ brainbox.

I can honestly say that I don’t like people, and by that I mean I don’t like being in groups of people I don’t mean I don’t like people, if you follow? Do you follow? Then lets continue, in groups of people, when you sit back and watch people you tend to be quiet and get easily left out of conversations and social interactions, this is fine with me but if you want to start observing people BUT like the warmth of human interaction then this is a factor you may want to keep in mind. Unless you’re better than I am at the whole watching people thing, then you can multi-task, but that doesn’t really work for me that well… I’m too busy listening to people and watching body language, not that I’m a body language expert but I know enough to know the basics, i.e. when people are being closed off, or far too open.

Gauging the validity of what people are saying, that is the true dilemma faced by any “Social Scientist” (which is what I’ve dubbed myself.) People lie, A LOT. Don’t take things people say at face value, unless you trust them not to be liars, people who know what you are doing will spin you a yarn on purpose, so don’t seem to over-eager to hear what they have to say when they say it. But when they do say it pay close attention to the way they sit and the little things they do, most people have “tells” that give them away. Those are always fun to find.

In closing, when you have nothing better to do, try and find something out about someone without them telling you, ask probing questions, ask random questions, but not about a subject, about things in general, see how they react and remember, its all in the name of science…

A Day In The Life...

of a swan.

its not the most exciting life but, cmon, swans have that neck, you know what that comes in handy for? thats right, looking over tall things, like walls and coffee mugs.

the swan wakes up, and like any selfrespecting male, rubs his genitals. mostly to make sure they havent dropped off in the night. the swan then nips to the shop for a box of snail eyes and saunters round the corner to feed the humans at the pond. i know, i know its usually ducks AND the other way round but who said this post had anything to do with anything, i didnt im merely writing the bastitch. so enjoy it while it lasts coz you know, when it ends, it ends... well guess what. its ending now. your not getting to know how the story ends.. make up your own ending if you wish.

Screamworks : Love in Theory and Practice Album Review

Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice is the newest release from Finnish "love metallers" HIM. HIM haven't released a full length album since 2007's over-elaborate, over-produced and quite frankly a step in the wrong direction "Venus Doom." Maybe I’m being a bit harsh; Venus Doom had some up points. The title track for example is amazing and the epic, sprawling Sleepwalking Past Hope is a ten minute roll in the figurative glee-goo. At least the singles off of Venus Doom weren't overplayed like Dark Light's Rip out the Wings of a Butterfly.

Back to Screamworks, which is HIM's seventh studio album.
Screamworks opens up with In Venere Veritas which is a melodic stroll through a tragic story, referencing Cupid, a mausoleum and wounds that don’t heal. Not dark at all eh? After the reasonably rocky opening, we are lead on to Scared to Death which takes you by the hand and paints a picture in your head of true pain and the fear people have of falling in love. Heartkiller follows, which again ups the tempo and attempts to blow your ears off with guitars. As a long time "Heartafan" I can honestly say that Heartkiller is a let down compared to HIM's other work. It seems like it insists upon itself, and as for a first single from the album, quite a let down, the video that goes with it is equally disappointing, but we will get to that at the end. After the reasonably up-tempo Heartkiller, we are thrown back in a slow pit by Dying Song which is melodic and quite haunting, Dying Song leads the way to Disarm Me (With Your Loneliness) which is also reasonably down tempo but as storming as anything HIM have ever done. After Disarm Me is Love The Hardest way, which if you like HIM, and I’m assuming you do, or you want have the album, or even thinking about getting it, you will love, the first time I heard it I was completely blown away by it. Katherine Wheel opens with a slow intro but leads into some excellent guitar and percussion work throughout, the first time I heard the song I had a very elaborate music video planned out in my head, I feel any good song should have an effect as such. It even manages to name check the album. In The Arms of Rain is the second if two reasonably disappointing songs but its worth listening to for the reason that it is the track directly before, in my opinion, the albums highlight of Ode To Solitude which will blow your head off in a good way with the way its composed and the deliverance Ville gives of the emotion and heartache the song entails. Shatter Me With Hope is as good if not better as anything HIM have ever done, that one song easily puts everything on 2005's Dark Light to quite a shameful shame, by being the second best song on the whole of Screamworks. Acoustic Funeral (for love in limbo) is a life affirming song, with a name like it has you wouldn’t think as much but it really is that good. Like St. Valentine makes you want to find that girl you love and tell her everything you have ever wanted to tell her. Ever. The fact that I found the video on Valentine’s Day just makes me titter. The concluding song, The Foreboding Sense of Impending Happiness is a song typical of any melodic band wanting an easy way to close an album; the over-repetition makes me think they were just cutting corners. Screamworks was also released as a special edition featuring all the songs in acoustic, know as Baudelaire in Braille which was a great idea because HIM are just as good acoustic as they are plugged in.

As I mentioned above, the Heartkiller video is an epic letdown, but I’ll let you judge that for yourself, there are people out there who love the video's simplicity but I think it is HIM's worst video to date, it pales in comparison to videos such as Buried Alive By Love and The Funeral of Hearts (both from 2003 release Love Metal)

Why I Was Drawn To Journalsim

a long time ago, i heard about a man but i didnt know anything about him, so i looked him up. that man was Hunter S. Thompson.

He was quite a troubled man but one of the best authors of anything i have ever read or had the pleasure of my ocular faculties, the words made me laugh, smile and be all like "DUDE! this guy actually knows his biscuits!"

I was lucky enough to see the documentary about Hunter, i had no idea half the things that were on it would be on it.

Too many people assume that Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was his seminal peice, although the movie was good, i have a distinct feeling the words will have a more profound effect on me.

I want to be as good as him, write how he wrote, see what he seen, but not in a drug fueled haze, without the guns and tragic suicide. Hunter will always inspire me to keep going. The cynics can bite the fattest part of my butt!

Cryptic Title Bars Reveal Nothing About Actual Post

Don't read this.... Nah i'm kidding read it really.

there was this guy, right? He went about designing t-shirt... i know, madness right? no-one wears t-shirts nowadays. Well these designs are actually pretty rad and come on pretty white tees and theres even a couple on hoodies, again, absurd, who wears hoodies? Hoodies wear hoodies! no one wants to be seen in a hoodie. WELL! these hoodies are for people who DO want to be seen in a hoody, with a rad design on the front. Dont let people tell you its wrong, they will be the ones that are wrong, and no one wants to be wrong, most of all people who like to be right!
